Ingredients: 2 cups butter 1 ½ cups sugar 3 eggs ½ teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons almond extract 5 cups flour

Directions:Cream butter, sugar, eggs with electric beater; add dry ingredients and everything else... you know how to do this.
Use a cookie press to squirt out perfectly sized, festive cookies. Tip: make sure your cookie pan is cool. They won't stick to warm pan. I top with Christmas sugars/sprinkles.
Bake at 400º for 10 minutes or so and keep an eye on it. |

Notes: My mother used to make these--and called them "ribbon cookies"; She used an old-timey cookie press that had a hand crank; Like a giant screw that you turn...She would use the skinny zig-zag shape, and then crank the dough out in one long ribbon; I have not found a way to do this with the newer cookie press that has a level type function... so if you have the old one that your crank/turn...you can make these in no time at all! Just cut into cookie size as soon as they come out of the oven.
I have been bringing these every year to the cookie party. The recipe makes SO MANY cookies. And they taste like Christmas.
