Ingredients:  
3 c flour
1/2 - 3/4 c shortening
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 c buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Whisk all dry ingredients together, blend in the shortening until like coarse crumbs. Stir in the buttermilk. Don't overwork.

Pat into a disc about 3/4" thick. Cut into rounds.

Bake at 425 for 15 minutes, until nicely browned.
