1-3/4 c flour
1/3 c sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
5 tbsp butter, chilled and cubed
1/2 c mini chocolate chips
3 tbsp orange juice

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or use parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With a pastry blender or a large fork, cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chips. Mix in the orange juice to form a dough.
Turn out the dough on a floured surface, pat or roll in a 9" circle about 1/2" thick. With a 2-1/2 inch fluted biscuit cutter, cut out 12 scones, pushing the dough scraps together for the last few.
Bake for 12 minutes and put on racks to cool.

This is the scone recipe that I usually use but I vary it. I leave out the sugar. I add either yogurt or sour cream. I put in berries and/or nuts. I make them gluten free. Lots of possibilities.
