1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup oil
1 medium can fruit cocktail
1 cup coconut

Icing:
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 evaporated milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together sugar, eggs and oil. Sift flour, salt and soda together. Mix flour mixture to the sugar mixture. Add fruit cocktail. If the batter is too thin, add a little more flour. Pour into a greased 9x13 cake pan. Sprinkle coconut on top. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until done.

Icing:
In a saucepan, mix ingredients. Bring to a boil for 1 minute; stir constantly. Remove from heat; add 1 tsp vanilla and 1 cup chopped nuts (optional). Mix well. Pour over cake while still warm.
