1/2 cup margarine (softened)
1 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs (separated)
1/2 cup nut meats cut fine (pecans)
1 cup brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Lightly grease 13X9 1/2 inch pan.

Mix all dry ingredients with margarine, vanilla and egg yolks.
Mixture will be dry and crumbly. Spread and press into prepared pan.

Beat 2 egg whites with 1 cup of brown sugar to get a fluffy meringue mixture. Pour egg white mixture over mix in pan and bake for 30 minutes in a 350 F oven (325 F if using a glass pan).

Let cool.

Cut into bars and enjoy!

Fun fact: This was my grandmothers recipe and she made it them every year for Christmas till she was 91. Her birthday was actually Christmas day as well as my daughters is they were born eighty-eight years apart!
