1 cup shortening
1 cup hot water
1 cup dark molasses
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix in bowl number 1- shortening, hot water, molasses and sugar.

Mix (sift together) in bowl number 2- flour, soda, salt, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Gradually mix bowl number 1 and bowl number 2 together. Add more flour (about 5 cups) to make a stiff dough. Roll dough on a floured board about 1/2 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to make shapes. Pat it into two greased cookie sheets. Bake for 20 minutes.
