1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup raspberry jam
1 cup icing sugar
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 tbsp hot water
candied cherries, halved

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º
Cream butter, add sugar until well mixed. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder and gradually add to creamed mixture
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into 2 inch rounds and place on greased baking tray.
Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are very light brown. Cool thoroughly. Spread half of the cookies with jam then top with remaining cookies
For glaze
Combine all ingredients and beat till smooth. Add more milk or icing sugar to reach desired consistency. Spread on top of cookies and top with cherry half.
