1 c white vinegar

1 gal cold water

1 c coarse salt

3 galcabbage

Mix first 3 ingredients. Cut up cabbage. Put 2 tsp sugar in bottom of quart jars. Pack cabbage in jars. (Don't pack real tight.) Pour mixture over cabbage. Leave about 1/2 inch space at top. Seal.

Makes about 12 quarts

We like it on top of country style ribs in the crock pot.

Spray crock pot with cooking spray. Place ribs in pot, drain kraut and spoon on top. Sprinkle with a little sugar. Cook on high until tender.

Sometimes I quarter peeled potatoes around about 2 hours before serving.

Great with cornbread!
