"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 slices bacon, diced
1 cup small sweet onion, diced
1 cloves garlic minced
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
¾ cup ketchup
1 tsp mustard powder
1 cup brown sugar packed
1 lb baked beans or cooked navy or pinto

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 325º F.
Heat a large (oven safe, if you don’t want to transfer) skillet over medium-low heat and add the bacon. Cook until it’s brown and crisp and most of the fat is rendered.

Stit in the onion and garlic. Cook, stirring often, until everything softens, about 5 minutes. Stir in the other ingredients .
Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn off the heat. If you'd like, you can lay a few strips of bacon on top of the beans here too!
Place the skillet (or transfer to an oven-safe dish) in the oven and bake for 2½ to 3 hours or until bubbly and syrup. Remove and let cool slightly before serving.
