1-2-3-4 Cake

1 cup Crisco
2 cups Sugar
3 Cups Cake Flour
4 ea Eggs
1 cup Milk
3 tsp baking Powder
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Almond extract
1 tsp Vanilla extract

Cream Sugar and crisco. Add 1 egg at a time and beat well between each. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Sift together and add to sugar mixture. Alternate with milk beat until smooth. Add vanilla and almond flavoring. Mix thoroughly, bake in 3 9 inch pans at 350ºF 25-30 minutes. cool 10 minutes and frost as desired.
 

Caramel frosting

½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar firmly packed
¼ cup Milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cup confectioner's sugar

Melt butter in saucepan. add brown sugar and let come to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. add milk and let come to a boil, still stirring. Remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm. Pour into small mixing bowl. Moix on low speed gradually adding confectioner's sugar and vanilla. beat on high speed until spreading consistency is obtained. add more sugar or a few drops of milk if necessary.
 

Butternut Icing

½ cup Butter
1 lb 4x confectioner's sugar
8 oz cream cheese
1 cup chopped nuts
1 TBS butternut flavoring

Sift sugar. Mix together cream cheese and butter. Add sugar and beat until creamy. Add nuts and flavoring and stir. Spread on and between 1234 cake layers.
 

Chocolate Frosting

14 oz sweetened condensed milk
1 TBS water
⅛ tsp salt
2 oz unsweet chocolate
½ tsp vanilla extract

Put milk water and salt into top of a double boiler and mix well. Add chocolate and cook over rapidly boiling water. Stirring often until thick(about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and cool stir in vanilla. Spread on cold cake.
 

Minute Fudge Icing

8 oz butter
1 cup sugar
¼ cup cocoa
¼ cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients except the vanilla. bring to a boil on the stove, when bubbles are all over the top of the mixture let boil for one minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla. beat until cool and thick enough to spread. do not stir while cooking.
 

Pineapple Cake filling

1 ea large can crushed pineapple
1 cup sugar
2 TBS flour
1 TBS butter
1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients and cook slowly. Stirring constantly until thickened.
 

Lemon cheese cake filling

2 ea lemons grated zest and juice.
3 ea egg yolks
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 TBS flour

In the top half of a double boiler combine the egg yolks, white sugar, butter or margarine, flour, grated lemon rind and lemon juice. Cook stirring constantly over medium heat until mixture is thick enough to spread. Let cool before spreading between cooled cake layers.
