3 lbs. tart apples (about 7-8 large apples)
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt (if butter is unsalted)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. unflavored oats
lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Peel, core and cut apples. Layer apples in pie dish or casserole dish. Dot apples with butter, sprinkle with lemon juice or grated rind. In a separate bowl, work with pastry blender or knives; flour, sugar, butter, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle mixture over apples. Top with unflavored oats. Bake at 350º for about 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
