Crust
2½ cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 sticks butter
1 egg yolk
2/3 cup milk

Filling
1 cup crushed cornflakes
5 cups pared, sliced apples
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoon butter

1 egg white

Directions:
Directions:
Bake 350º for 30-40 minutes

For crust, cut butter into flour, sugar and salt until mixture crumbles. Stir in egg yolk and milk. Form into a ball. Divide in half and roll dough on lightly floured surface to fit a jelly roll pan.

For filling, place cornflake crumbs on top of crust. Mix apples, sugar and cinnamon together and place on top of crumbs. Dot with butter

Roll out balance of dough and place over apples. Moisten edges and seal tightly. Brush top with beaten egg white.

While bars are still hot, drizzle with a powdered sugar icing. Let cool and cut into bars.
