3/4 C sugar
3/4 C brown sugar
1/2 C butter
1/2 C shortening

2 tsp vanilla
1 egg

2 C flour +
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

1 bag choc chips, milk or semi-sweet

chopped chocolate bars optional
walnuts optional

Preheat oven to 375

Cream sugars and butter-shortening together

Add vanilla and eggs, beat well

In separate bowl, combine flour, soda and salt
Add to creamed mixture

Stir in choc chips to taste.

Stir in an additional 1/2 C flour, bake one test cookie and add more flour if they're too flat.

**Neiman Marcus cookies variation: substitute 1/2 C oat flour which you can make in the blender with rolled oats.
