! cup raisins
1 cup water
cup shortening or butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
tsp ginger
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cook raisins and water at simmer for 20 minutes. Cream in large bowl, shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add liquid from raisins to make cup. Mix well. In seperate bowl mix flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Add rolled oats, nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonful onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 12--14 minutes at 375. Can use half brown sugar and half white sugar.
