3 C. Buttermilk
1 TBS. anise seed
1 TBS. salt
1/2 C. Sugar
1 C. wheat flour
1 C. white flour
orange rind, 1 orange
3/4 C crisco melted, or 1/2 C vegetable oil
2 yeast packets
3/4 C white Karo syrup
flour to add in order to make a stiff dough and knead the dough.

prepare the yeast per the directions on the packet.
mix together the dry ingredients, then add the wet ingredients to the dry. Knead the dough, cover and let rise, double in size. punch down, form into bread, grease pans, add dough, cover and let rise, then bake at 350º until brown and toothpick comes out clean
