1 T. white vinegar
1 c. corn syrup
1 T. baking soda

Line the bottom and sides of a 9"x9" baking pan with aluminum foil; butter aluminum foil and set aside. Combine sugar, vinegar, and corn syrup in a heavy saucepan; stir over medium heat until mixture reaches the hard-crack stage, or 290 to 310 degrees on a candy thermometer; remove from heat. Carefully stir in baking soda; mixture will foam up quite high. Pour mixture into prepared pan; set aside at room temperature until firm. Invert pan to remove candy; peel foil from back. Break candy into small pieces; store in an airtight container.
