Personal Notes:
Dad was always trying to find a recipe that mimics the short rib recipe from the Pagoda, the Chinese restaurant we frequented on
That restaurant goes way back in the Brewer family, my Mom has gone there with her family since she was a kid. They always went on Mother's Day! We went there for all the food. I loved the egg foo young, their fried chicken was legendary, but nothing could compare with their short ribs in a sweet and sour(not too tangy) sauce. My Dad was always trying to play around with the recipe so this must have been an attempt at that. I can just see him cutting hair and it popping into his head. So love that this simple recipe is written on one of his old hair styling cards!
