2 C flour
2 C sugar
1 tsp soda

1 C water
1 C butter or margarine

4 T cocoa

2 eggs
1/2 C milk or buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla

Frosting:
1/4 C milk
1/2 C butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
4 T cocoa
1 lb powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 400º

Prepare cookie sheet with spray oil

Combine flour, sugar and soda in bowl, set aside.

Heat water and butter to simmering
Add cocoa and stir until smooth

Add this hot mixture to the flour mixture and stir until smooth

Add eggs, milk and vanilla

Spread on cookie sheet

Bake 20 min

While it's in the oven, make frosting:
Bring milk and butter just to a boil
Whisk in cocoa
Add vanilla and salt
Add enough powdered sugar to your liking.
Carefully spread frosting on cake right out of the oven.

This is Texas sheet cake but Marva made this for Kerry and I when were dating, visiting their houseful of 6 kids so it's Marva's, not Texas'. Been loving it ever since.
