1 c plus 2 tablespoon Shortening
3 tablespoon Water
4 apples
⅔ cups sugar
2 tablespoon butter
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
⅓ cup water
⅓ cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoon butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening until particles are the size of peas.
Sprinkle with water 1 tablespoon at a time, press dough into ball. Place on lightly floured waxed paper, cover with another layer of waxed paper and into rectangular form cut into 7 inch squares.
Pare and core apples, boil the following four ingredients for 3 minutes: ⅔ cup sugar, 1½ cup water, butte and cinnamon.
Place apple in center of each square fill with dry mixture of ⅓ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Dot each with butter. Cover pastry over apple, pour hot yrup around dumplings, and bake at 425°F for 45 minutes.
