½ c. shortening
¾ c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
½ c. milk
4 c. rolled oats
2 c. flour
2 c. raisins
2 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. cloves
2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, butter and sugar together, add eggs one at a time. Beat well. Add milk and mix well. Mix flour, salt, soda and spices together in separate bowl, them add them all at once and mix well. Add raisins and mix. Add oatmeal and mix. Let dough sit for several hours, drop onto cookie sheet and bake at 375º for about 10 minutes. Watch so they don't burn.
