3 c sifted flour
1-¼ cups shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
5-½ tablespoons of water
1 teaspoon vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Work flour, shortening and salt together until like a coarse meal. Break the egg into a small bowl, then add water and vinegar and beat lightly. Make a well in the flour mixture and add liquid. Mix well and roll out. Makes 2 crusts.

This is Gram's favorite pie crust recipe and I've never had a better one in my life. Shortening makes all the difference -- Puddy used to tell Judy to "make it short, hon". Use this for coconut pie (bake the crust, then fill, add meringue and bake) or pecan pie - fill the uncooked shell with the filling and bake.
