3 to 4 (3 to 4 inches long) Sassafras roots

Sugar

Directions:
Directions:
One small handful of sassafras roots, 3 to 4 inches in length, dropped into a 2 or 3 quart enameled pan and covered with as much water as desired. Let boil until the tea is dark in color. Drain water from the pot and add enough sugar to slightly sweeten. These roots may be boiled over and over for day, as the flavor increases with successive boilings.
