1 cup granulated sugar (2)
¾ cup butter, softened (1½)
½ teaspoon salt (1)
1 egg (2)
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind (2)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (2)
2¼ cups all purpose flour (4½)
1 teaspoon baking powder (2)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF
In large bowl, cream sugar, butter, and salt. Beat in egg, lemon rind, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together flour and baking powder. Gradually stir into creamed ingredient.

On floured board, using floured rolling pin, roll dough until ⅛-inch thick. Cut into fancy shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 9-12 minutes or until lightly browned around the edge, Cool on racks. Decorate.
