5 lb figs
Rind from 2 oranges and 2 lemons
1 box raisins
1 lb pecans
½ lb walnuts
2 lb pitted dates
½ c sugar
1 t cinnamon
1 or 2 jars honey (added later)
1 t black pepper

Ground figs and rest of ingredients for filling the night before. Use honey in place of sugar if needed for sweetness.

5 lb self-rising flour
1 lb Crisco
6 eggs
4 c sugar
1 T baking powder
1 t vanilla
2 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix Crisco and sugar, beat fluffy and add eggs. Add vanilla; mix alternatively with milk and flour and baking powder.

Roll dough thin; cut 2” wide and fill.

Bake 350 deg F for 20 minutes or until light brown. Cool before icing.

Milk, as needed
Food coloring
Sprinkles
Colored beads

Once cookies are cool; ice and add sprinkles and/or colored beads.
