(6) tart apples (can mix Granny Smith and Gala)
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup melted shortening
Cinnamon or Nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Put apples into a baking dish -- I usually use a large round tart dish. Combine the flour, sugar, egg, baking powder and salt. Mix with fork until crumbly and sprinkle over the apples. Pour the melted shortening over the mixture then sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 350º for 40 minutes.

This one came from the Sugar & Spice Cookbook from the Methodist Church in Tulsa OK. There are a lot of great recipes in that one, ya'll should fight over the cookbook when the day comes. I had to include this photo - it's a copy of Memo's recipe with precious hand written notes all over it.
