1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
3 tbsp milk
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup unbleached flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375. Grease and flour muffin pans or line with papers. In a large bowl, using electric mixer, combine butter and sugar. Beat until thoroughly blended. Add remaining ingredients, except walnuts. Beat on low until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn to high and beat until smooth. Blend in walnuts by hand. Spoon batter into muffin cups until 2/3 full. Bake at 350 for 15-17 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and dry. Remove from oven and allow to cool in pan for 10 minutes before turning out.
