6 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 ts baking powder
1 lb shortening (traditional is lard - 2 cups)
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp anise seed or 1/4 tsp anise liquid
2 eggs
1/4 cup brandy
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon

Directions:

Sift flour, salt, and baking powder

Cream shortening with sugar and anise seed until fluffy

Beat in eggs one at a time

Mix in flour and brandy until well blended

Turn out dough on floured board and pat or roll until 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick

Cut into shapes using cookie cutter

Dust with cinnamon and sugar

Bake at 350º F for 10 mintues or until lightly browned

Store in tightly sealed tin
