1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/3 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter softened
1 cup sugar
1 lg egg
1-1/2 tsp vanilla

Frosting enough for a double batch of cookies
1 10 oz jar of marachino cherries
1 6 oz bag chocolate chips1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
3 tsp cherry juice

Directions:

Stir together the first 5 ingredients. Drain the cherries and reserve juice. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy and add the eggs and vanilla and beat 30 seconds. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix well. Shape dough into 1" - 1-1/2" balls and place on cookie sheet (ungreased). Dent centers with thumb and insert a cherry in each one. Melt chips with condensed milk stirring over low heat til chocolate melts. Take from heat and add cherry juice. Spoon one tsp over each covering the cherry and bake 10 minutes. (they won't look done). Cool on sheet so they won't fall apart.

Bake at 350º
