Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5 cups of sugar;
1-1/3 cup of white Karo syrup;
2 sticks of margarine;
1 cup of evaporated milk;
4 cups of pecans.

Directions:
Directions:
Cook all ingredients, including the pecans, in a heavy sauce pan (like a Presto cooker).

Cook to the soft ball stage (using a candy thermometer).

Take it off the heat and add 2 tsp of vanilla.

Beat with a wooden spoon until it begins to lose its shiny look and sets up. Although your arm will feel like it's going to fall off while you are stirring it, it's really important to get it to the right stage and work quickly. Once it starts to set up, it gets hard really fast, so you don't have much time. (BUT IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT!) If it's setting up too fast, you can add 1 tsp of hot water.

Drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper.
