1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped dates
16 oz candied fruit cake mix

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and beat well. Reserve a little flour to toss with the fruit mix. Combine flour with soda and salt. Add dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk. Toss fruit in reserved flour. Fold in fruit and pecans. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake 8-13 min. Store in airtight container.
