3 pounds coarse ground beef
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1/2 cup minced green pepper (optional)
1 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 pinch cumin (optional)
1 (14-ounce) can small red kidney beans, undrained

Directions:
Directions:
Cook meat in Dutch oven or heavy kettle until it loses redness. Sprinkle with chili powder, salt and sugar; blend well through meat. Add onion and green pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables soften. Add tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, garlic and cumin; simmer, covered, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Add beans; simmer, uncovered, 1/2 hour or until desired consistency. Makes 2 1/2 quarts.
