2 cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
½ tsp. Salt
½ cup Sugar
¾ cup Brown Sugar (packed)
½ cup (1 stick) Butter or Margarine, softened
½ cup Shortening
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 Egg
12 oz. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chuck Chips
½ cup Nuts, chopped (optional)

Preheat oven to 375º.

In a small bowl combine flour, soda & salt; set aside.

In a large bowl combine the butter, shortening, sugar, brown sugar & vanilla; beat until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add flour mixture and mix well. Fold in chocolate chunks and nuts with a wooden spoon.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bale 8-10 minutes.

Cool cookie on sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire rake to cool completely.
