Ingredients: 1 4-0unce package German Brand Sweet Chocolate ½ cup boiling water 1 cup butter 2 cups sugar 4 egg yolks 1 tsp. vanilla 2¼ cups sifted all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder ½ tsp. salt 1 cup buttermilk (or sour milk by putting 1 tbsp. vinegar in cup and adding milk to make a cup) 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions:Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla and cooled chocolate. Mix salt and baking powder into flour and add to butter/chocolate mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition until smooth. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour into THREE 9-inch round cake pans lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350º for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and frost tops only. |

Ingredients: 1 cup evaporated milk 1 cup sugar 3 slightly beaten egg yolks 1/2 cup butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/3 cups flake coconut 1 cup chopped pecans

Directions: |
Directions:Mix first 5 ingredients together and cook over medium heat until thickened, about 12 minutes. Add coconut and chopped pecans. Cool until thick enough to spread, beating occasionally.
Spread on German Sweet Chocolate cake, covering tops of each layer only. |

You may want to just buy the mix and the icing in a can, but it isn't as good!
