1 cup (2 sticks) margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsp. baking soda
6 tbsp. buttermilk
4 cups flour
6 bananas, mashed
1 cup chopped walnuts, or to taste
1 cup raisins, or to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Beat the margarine and sugar in a mixing bowl until creamy. Add the eggs and beat well. Dissolve the baking soda in the buttermilk in a small bowl. Add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Beat in the flour and bananas. Stir in the walnuts and raisins. Spoon into 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 ¼ hour or until a wooden pick inserted in the centers comes out clean. Note: This bread freezes well.
