1 cup butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
1/2 tsp. almond extract
few drops red food coloring
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
48 chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350.
Combine butter, powdered sugar, cherry juice, almond extract, and food coloring; blend well with mixer.
Add in flour and salt.
Add cherries by hand and mix well.
Form dough into 1" balls. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet (I line my sheets with wax paper). Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes or until cookies are lightly brown around the edges. Immediately top each cookie with a chocolate kiss. Remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely.

One time I showed up to the Parker family Christmas without these cookies. I will never make that mistake again! The debate continues on whether these cookies are better with or without the chocolate kiss.
