1/2 c. butter

4 c. pitted plums OR peeled, pitted and sliced peaches
1T. lemon juice
3/4 c. white sugar

3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1T. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Place butter in a 9x9 baking dish and place in oven until butter melts.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Add milk and vanilla and stir until just combined.
Spoon over melted butter but do not stir.

Meanwhile, combine fruit, sugar and lemon juice and bring to a boil

Pour fruit mixture over cake mixture. Do not stir.
Bake at 375 degrees for apprx. 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Emma looked at the internet and found this excellent recipe!
Very easy and delicious!

I have also tried using 1/3 c. butter, melted as above. 2 c. frozen blueberries plus 1 c. frozen raspberries, 1/2 c. sugar and 1T. lemon juice for fruit mixture.

Dry ingredients and milk reduced from 3/4 to 1/2 c. each plus 2 teaspoons baking powder rather than 1 T. Recipe procedure as above. Used an 8 inch Corningware casserole dish and reduced oven time slightly.

Even easier and also good!
