1 cup sugar ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar 2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 eggs 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
½ cup molasses ¼ cup milk
2 tsp vanilla extract ½ tsp vanilla extract or caramel flavoring
4½ cups all-purpose flour pinch of salt
1 Tbsp ground ginger
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground cloves

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the molasses and vanilla; mix well.

Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture.

Drop by Tbsp 2" apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325º for 12-15 minutes until cookies spring back when lightly touched, do not overbake. Remove to wire rack.

Frosting: In a medium saucepan, bring sugars and butter to a boil; boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in milk; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat (mixture will look curdled at first) Cool for 3 minutes. Add vanilla and salt; mix well. Frost warm cookies.
