2 c. Sugar (396 g.)
1 c. Shortening (184 g.)
2 eggs
1 c. Buttermilk (227 g.)
1 t. Soda
½ t. Nutmeg
½ t. Lemon juice
½ t. Salt
3 t. Baking powder
1 t. Vanilla
5 ½ c. Flour (660 g.)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs, beat well. Add salt, baking powder, nutmeg, vanilla, and lemon juice.

Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk. Add to creamed mixture, stir. Then add flour.

Roll dough to ¼ inch, cut out and place on parchment lined sheets. Bake at 350º for 8-9 minutes.

(In place of shortening you may want to use half butter and half shortening ( ½ c. each). Using butter makes cookies spread more.
