1/1/2 cup sugar
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 chopped nuts
2 tsp. butter
Powered sugar

Cook together sugar, dates, and milk to soft ball stage ( 236º)
Stir constantly to prevent scorching.
Cool to lukewarm
Add butter and nuts
Beat until thick and completely cool. Turn onto a board thickly covered with powdered sugar and knead until it will mold. Fashion into a long roll about 1" in diameter. Let stand 24 hours and slice.
