1/3-1/2 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1/4 cup Brown Sugar, firmly Packed
1 Egg, well beaten
1 cup Sifted Flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 package Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup Chopped Nut Meats
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening. Add sugars gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Sift flour once, measure, add salt and baking soda, and sift again. Add flour in two parts and ix well. Add chocolate Chips, nuts and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Drop from teaspoon on ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350º F for about 12 minutes.
