1/2 cup Shortening
1-1/4 cup Sugar
1-3/4 cup Cake Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 cup Buttermilk (Preferred) or Sour Milk
2 Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 square Chocolate + Handful chips

1 square Chocolate
1 handful Chocolate Chips
1 tablespoons Butter
2 tablespoons Crisco
5 tablespoons Scalding Hot Milk
2 cups Sifted Confectioner's Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Cake:
Add shortening and sugar. Then add cake flour, salt, and baking soda that have been sifted. Add remaining ingredients to batter. Bake in a greased loaf pan for 1 hour in a 350º F oven.

Icing:
Melt chocolate square, chocolate chips, butter and Crisco over hot water. Pour hot milk over confectioner's sugar and add salt. Stir to dissolve completely. Add vanilla and chocolate mixture. It will be thin, however, beat while hot, until thick.
