3 C powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
about 2 T heavy cream

Mix sugar and butter, add vanilla and enough cream to have a smooth and spreadable consistency. Double this recipe is frosting a layered cake. Betty Crocker's recipe uses milk, but Sheila uses heavy whipping cream and it is so much better!
