1 C butter, softened
1 C sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tarter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter, and sugar. Add eggs, blend well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add vanilla, and add dry ingredients 1 C at a time until blended. Chill dough until cold. Roll out dough, and cut out shapes if desired. Bake at 350 for 8-10 min. Chill and frost and decorate with buttercream frosting.

This recipe stands the test of time, and was my favorite to make with my mom growing up. I would spend all day as a young adult rolling out cookies, and decorating for the holidays. I cannot resist eating this dough raw LOL. The cream of tarter is what makes the cookies have a light texture.
