1 C packed brown sugar
1/2 C butter
1/2 C shortening
1 3/4 C flour
1 1/2 C quick-cooking oats
1 t. salt
1/2 t. baking soda
4 1/2 C chopped tart apples
3 T flour
1 tub caramel apple dip

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400. Mix brown sugar, butter and shortening. Stir in 1 3/4 C flour, oats, salt and baking soda. Remove 2 C of the mix and reserve. Press remaining mix mixture in ungreased 9x13" pan. Toss apples and 3 T flour. Spread over mix in pan. Microwave caramel topping until melted and pour evenly over apples. top with reserved oat mixture and press lightly. Bake 25-30 min. or until golden brown and apples are tender. Cut into bars while warm. Refrigerate any remaining bars.
