Directions:Make coating first to allow time for it to congeal. Melt caramels and milk together (I found it better to not use all of the milk at first, if too thick I could add milk as needed to make dipping easier). |

Ingredients: 1/3 cup finely ground walnuts 1/3 cup sugar 1/3 cup evaporated milk

Directions: |
Directions:In small saucepan mix together the filling ingredients. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly. Cook until thick pudding consistency, it will firm more as it cools. Cool to room temperature. |

Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1/4 tsp salt 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 2 cups all-purpose flour

Directions: |
Directions: In large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugars. Add the egg and vanilla, beating until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour, mix thoroughly.
Shape dough into small ball. Make impression in dough and drop 1/4 tsp filling in impression and reshape dough into a ball so no filling is exposed. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350° for approximately 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Insert a pick into cookie and cool completely.
Dip cooled cookies into caramel coating then into chopped walnuts. Makes about 36 cookies.

Notes: This recipe I found printed in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune newspaper. It was a winner at the MN State Fair and became a “regular” on the cookie list. I love looking for cute Holiday Picks and paper cups from Hobby Lobby to package the Taffy Treats.
