1 pound of venison or beef stew meat
3-5 potatoes
3-5 carrots
1 onion
1 clove garlic
1 stalk of celery
1/2 head of cabbage
1 can of green beans
1 package frozen corn
2 bay leaves
2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning
1 or 2 large cans of tomato juice

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat, onion, and garlic in a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Do not drain. Add meat and chopped vegetables (except cabbage) into a large soup pot. Add spices. Bring to a boil and cook until vegetables are almost to desire firmness. Add cabbage and finish cooking. Turn down heat to low and let simmer for a couple of hours. Add more spices if desired. Take out bay leaves before serving.

We always made this recipe with a bag of frozen corn and a jar of green beans from our yearly garden and deer meat. It gives the soup a much fresher taste!

Grandma Dorinda always served this dish with homemade bread! Yum!
