cup shortening
1 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
cup buttermilk
3 ripe mashed bananas
Chopped walnuts if desired

Frosting

2 cups powdered sugar
2 tblsp softened butter
tsp vanilla
Milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, then alternate dry ingredients and buttermilk and bananas.

Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes in a 13x9 greased cake pan. Cool.

Mix together frosting ingredients and add milk to desired consistency. Frost cake.

Make buttermilk by adding 1 tblsp white vinegar or lemon juice per cup of milk.
