Asian Lettuce Wraps Recipe

16 large leaf Boston Bibb/Butter lettuce leaves
1lb ground beef
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
cup hoisin sauce
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp ground ginger
1 dash Asian chili pepper sauce, to taste
1 8oz can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 carrot, grated
2 tsp Asian dark sesame oil

Rinse lettuce leaves and pat dry, being careful not to tear.

Heat skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir beef and oil until browned. Drain and discard grease; transfer beef to bowl. Cook and stir onion in same skillet until slightly tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Stir hoisin sauce, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger and pepper sauce into onions. Add water chestnuts, green onions, carrots, sesame oil and cooked beef. Cook and stir just until onions begin to wilt, about 2 minutes.
