2 c sugar
2 c unsifted flour
1 stick margarine
3 1/2Tbs. cocoa
1/2 c shortening
1 c water
2 eggs
1/2 c buttermilk
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400. Mix sugar and flour in large bowl. Set aside. In sauce pan, add margarine, cocoa, shortening and water. Bring to boil. Pour over sugar/flour mixture. Add eggs, buttermilk, soda, and vanilla. Mix well. Bake in well-grease jelly-roll pan or cookie sheet that has at least 1/2 inch sides. Bake 20 minutes. Begin making icing 5 minutes before cake is done.

3 1/2 Tbs. cocoa
1/3 c condensed milk
1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1 c chopped pecans
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Add margarine, cocoa and condensed milk to a saucepan and bring to boil. Add powdered sugar, pecans and vanilla. Cook until smooth and creamy. Pour over HOT cake. Let cool completely before serving.

Mom made this cake for Mary's birthday every year, and she continues to make this cake for Thanksgiving gatherings.
