3 pkg. dry yeast
1/3 cup warm water
1/4 cup sugar
5 cups self-rising flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups lukewarm water
1 cup vegetable shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in water and set aside. In a large bowl mix flour, sugar and soda. Cut in shortenig to resembe coarse meal. Add yeast and buttermilk. Mix just enough to blend. Working in small batches, pat dough out on a floured board. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on a cookie sheet. Brush tops with melted margarine. Let rise in a warm place until double in size. Bake 350º 10 to 15 minutes.
